Back To My Roots

12-10-2011
Another two races in the books... Spec Class then Super Trucks today. Nathan is making improvements in his driving and I think we are getting everything out of the chassis as it is currently setup. But my lap total was exactly the same as two weeks ago, so now it's time to start looking for more speed. Both chassis got torn down this evening and now I'm looking closer at the motor. Big Foot brushes for all the motors are installed and ready for the break in box tomorrow. I forgot to get some Champion brush springs for the trucks. With some luck I'll have time to replace next week before the race.

I'm also going to look to squeeze some more friction out of the axle/bushings. None of the chassis have the front bushings soldered in, I guess I'm going to have to break down and purchase a torch. My soldering gun won't do the job!

Oh yeah... braid juice. After trying with and without the product, I have come to the conclusion that it prevents arcing of the pickup braid and the track braid and gives longer life to the pickup braids. That may translate to a less fall off during a run. I can't say that I see any lubricating speed at the start as some have claimed. At the least it doesn't seem to hurt the car performance and it does improve pickup braid life.
